Hip Hop dance has grown globally as part of the culture that has transcended borders. With hip hop music being gaining popularity, the hip hop dance scene has also grown phenomenally. Acceptance of Hip Hop as part of the mainstream culture has also increased its popularity.

Different interpretations of hip hop dance have sprung up in different parts of world relating more closely to each of the cultures in that region. The hip hop dancer style not only relates in dance style but also in the fashion and lifestyle. The element of hip hop dance revolves very much around the freedom of expression.

Hip Hop would be seen as a freeform way of expression including many disciplines of dance. But very importantly music has shaped hip hop dance styles as it progressed through the years. Basic rhythm and bounce shape the basics of hip hop but other dance forms such as funk and jazz has been infused into hip hop. As hip hop music changes, the form of dance will change with the music.
