Adrian is a nice guy with no temper but because he seldom smile, people tend to get the wrong impression that he is unapproachable. He has a weird sense of humor and he loves to irritate his friends for fun! He is very conscious of his appearance, and his favorite object to look at is the mirror.

CONVERSATIONS WITH INSTRUCTOR

1. What’s life been like for you for the past year?

Okay, lets not talk about anything personal.

Haha! 2009 has been a fruitful year for me because I was given many opportunities to teach as well as to perform. I feel that teaching really pushes a dancer in his or her technique as well as choreography and I definitely feel that I have grown in terms of dance and confidence. Really appreciate the opportunities given to me!

One really memorable moment in 2009 will be my first solo performance on stage broadcasted LIVE during New Year countdown at Vivocity.  Never ever will I forget that experience! Pardon me for the lack of information because I have quite a short-term memory. Haha.

2. It was a solo performance with Fann Wong! Your mum must have been proud of you!

I better hope so! My mum is my biggest influence naturally because she is the first person to care for me, teach me to walk, talk and never gives up on me. She is also the one to enable my freedom to think and decide for myself and because of her, I’m allowed to learn from everyone.

Through my growing up, from school to dance, I meet a lot of people who help mould my thoughts to what I am today. My friends, my teachers and even my enemies. There is always a reason for everything and a lesson to learn for a job well done or even a mistake.

3. And how has that shaped your dance career?

I started dancing back in my JC days and I treated dance as just a CCA back then. I stopped dancing for 2 years when serving my national service and had no intention to continue until one day when I went to watch a performance put up by my friends. I was amazed with how much they had grown in dance since JC and instantaneously I was inspired to start dancing again. Since then, I took classes in Wu very often hoping to “catch up” with what I had missed for the 2 years. As time goes by, my passion for dance led me to opportunities to perform and eventually built my career as a dance instructor. To me, dance is much more than just a CCA and I don’t think I will ever stop dancing.
