Yiwen describes herself as a really SHY girl and a constant dreamer with lots of ambitions, including becoming a policewoman, paramedic, firefighter, and zookeeper. Of course, her dreams have always laughed at, but still, it keeps me excited and rejuvenated.

In her free time, she likes to watch dramas. While others think drama series are just a waste of time, for Yiwen it provides her some excitement in her mundane lifestyle. They make life seem more dramatic, which gives her room to imagine much more than a normal day of just going to work and going home everyday.  It has also improved her language skills! So you can’t argue that it has wasted her time.

CONVERSATIONS WITH INSTRUCTOR

1.  You took part in Suntec Dance and Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 1 within the past year.

The past year has been superb!! I was never a competition person, but the recent Suntec and SDD have changed my mind! Being in a foreign group for Suntec dance, I was actually scared and don’t know how it’ll become. But thankfully my group mates (DRAMADS) are a really cool and fun loving bunch of people! They got me totally inspired to be hardworking and do my best for the team. I really do miss them and am grateful for the friendships built along the way. SDD was more recent, with my fellow (NO.NA.ME) teammates. Because of work, we had to live with super late-night trainings. But, it was all worth it to have them and all the funny incidents that happened throughout practices.

2.  What keeps you going through it all?

Well, I have plenty of idols that I’m always amazed at, even those around me! And they have definitely influenced me in different ways, be it style, attitude, lifestyle etc. But, I really can’t tell who is my biggest influence. Can I say it’s myself? It’s my brain that got me influenced by others!

3.  And what does your brain says about dance?

Dance… is just a passion. To be honest, it is not my life, not my oxygen, not my everything. It is just something that I like to do, something I wish to share, something that makes me feel good. I can’t say that I cannot live without it, but I can say that it has affected me as a person. I have become more spontaneous, cheerful, and positive in life. Now, I am a happy person.
