Chua Choon Hui

Choon Hui is a chirpy and bubbly person that you would definitely want to hang out with. However, do not be deceived by her youthful looks, or she would tell you that,”I’m not as young as you think!”

Sometimes we do wonder where does her never-ending energy comes from and especially her super loud voice in class, guess that’s what that makes one feel more energetic in her classes too.

CONVERSATIONS WITH INSTRUCTOR

1.  Yakuza? How does that come about?

Yakuza, as most ppl know, it means japanese mafia. We used to have a group participating in competition using the name Yakuza. The reason why we chose this name was because we were doing more strong and energetic hip hop, which we feel that Yakuza portrays that fierce spirit and strength that we wish to portray through our dance, but definitely nothing violent :)

The name was then adopted to be my solo competition stage name.

2.  Does that translate to your approach to dance and life?

Yes, in certain way, as I can be quite firm on stuffs when I need to, and when it comes to dance, I believe energy is important, and I never say die no matter how tired I am.

3.  From MDC  to Studio Wu. What has changed for you?

During my MDC days, it was more performing then coaching. Through performance, I guess that’s where I train up on my ‘never say die’ energy  as well as my showmanship. However during my MDC and Studio Wu time, I was given the same nick as energizer bunny.

In Studio Wu, I train up more on my teaching skills and as well as communicating skills on how I am able to inspire people to want to continue trying dancing after their first class by having fun and as well as making them understand how they do their steps.
