Tina and Peiyi both started out from NRA and have since participated in numerous competitions and performances together. Sharing the same interest in power jazz, they had their first collaboration during Suntec Dance competition in 2009 as dramads. Now, they are thrilled to be able to come up with another piece together and hope you’ll like their blend of flavours.

Alex Teng is a current member of United Groovers (UG), the resident crew of Danz People, and alumni of NTU MJ Hip Hop Dance Club. He believes in never-nding learning from any style and anyone who shares the same passion. He keeps an open-mind and hardworking soul when it comes to dance. So, come out and join Alex in ‘THE CLASS’ as he shares a fun piece which blends the old and new style hip hop together with an upbeat song for you to groove to!

Steph and Mel have been dancing together since 2008 and have definitely become huge influences on each other’s style. Both have also been exposed by many inspiring dancers, local and overseas, and served in the NTU MJ Hip Hop club: Melissa as President and Stephanie as Dance Captain in 2009. As much as technique and musicality are crucial in dance, they believe that dance as a tool of expression is equally important. Hoping to share their unique styles, join them on 21 Feb for a routine of attitude and fun!

Blessed is how Apple describes himself. Apple began dancing when he joined the MJ Hip Hop Dance Family at NTU. He is extremely grateful to all his seniors in MJ, without which he “could not have started dancing”. As current President, Apple is humbled everyday by the love in the MJ Family that keeps his passion strong. He is extremely lucky to have travelled to the U.S. and is blissful and thankful to be part of the 429 Family. When asked about his dance style, he says “I dance in the search for Happiness! Join me! it will be fun!”

Cheryl and Kangli started their love for HipHop since JC and began taking dance seriously upon joining MJ HipHop Dance Club at NTU. Cheryl and Kangli, as the ex-President and current Dance Captain respectively of the club, developed their own styles that are branched differently from each other but share the same roots. Yet, their chemistry is undeniable as they have joined Suntec Dance 2010 together, emerging as one of the semi-finalists after intense eliminations. This unique blend of common inspirations leading to different styles and good chemistry is why they promise that their collaboration will be an interesting and special one!

Dance has played multiple roles in Taufik’s life. It began with an irrepressible desire to move his feet, progressing into an important outlet for releasing tension after a hectic day. Taufik now adds: “It also helps burn unwanted fat.”
A former dance captain of NUS Dance Blast! and current member of dance collective Rhythm Stylus, he strives to move ever-so-flawlessly in synchrony with his favourite pop, jazz and hip-hop sounds – and he leads effectively in the same direction. Current member of dance collective Rhthym Stylus, Candy loves music as much as dance. In this class, she will continue to share her love for Soul music, specifically the sensual, laid back, honest-to-goodness sounds of the late 1990s to early 2000s. Candy finds that she can best express herself and the essence of this sound through New Style Hip Hop. Through The Class, she hopes to exchange tips on how to ride the music and to make moving through space feel good and meaningful. Come with your own groove and some thoughts to share!

A member of Studio Wu Elite Team, NTUMJ HipHop Dance Club, NTU Contemporary Dance Club, as well as Rhythm Stylus, a HipHop Dance Community group, Vernon has been actively involved in dance competitions since the age of 14. During his exchange studies in Oslo, Norway in 2008, he was greatly inspired by 2 overseas instructors/mentors in Oslo Streetdance Studio, namely Rodrigo Willner (BRA) & Aneta Antosova (CZE). He also represented the studio’s performance team ‘Soulstars’ Trainee group in a ‘High School Musical 3’ performance and ‘Battle of the South’ competition at one of the clubs. Recently, Vernon has gradually developed his liking for LA groove and Hip Hop. Join in the groove in this last The CLASS for the year, and discover a new flavour of LA movements and style!

Just a dancer who loves popping, locking, house, waacking and soul dance. Michael’s first brush with dance was in primary school, and his passion is burning to date! His dance footprints can be seen in competitions, battles, judging, performances and teaching.
“I love teaching and getting everyone to familiarize themselves with the various dance styles. I love changes and challenges, and hope to become a better dancer everyday!”
As taught by one of his teachers, a good foundation allows one to keep building up oneself. Learn from Michael house techniques and the various applications to stomp the yard! Let us all experience this language of dance. Lets all get it pumping

Caleb is a founding member for Rhythm Stylus who takes a very personal approach in his work in dance. He has been travelling extensively for dance exposure covering the United States, Japan, Taiwan and China. He has since been working with multiple dance groups locally and overseas to share his craft and philosophy in dance which he hopes to inspire with.
Newly inspired from his recent dance expedition with Rhythm Stylus in Los Angeles, he is looking to share insights and meaning in dance in his class this December at Studio Wu.

Freekzy Nutz has been around for 3 years and are passionate to share their love for Hip Hop. Their greatest achievement to date was representing Singapore in the World Hip Hop Dance 2010 in Las Vegas. With that, they are more eager to share what they have learnt from the competition and also their very own hip hop style, the “Freekzy” style. It’s more to LA style with the combination of Hip Hop. Being inspired by dancers namely, S**T Kingz, Joyce and the Boys, Shaun Evaristo, Lyle Beniga, Brian Puspos and Tony Tran, come experience for yourself the “Freekzy” style!

A late starter in dance less than 3 years ago, Xavier’s passion & drive for achievement has led him to where he is now. Recently, he was involved in Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 1 & 93.3fm Taiwan Street Dance Competitions with No.Na.Me, a crew comprising of 4 other Studio Wu instructors. The latter brought the crew to represent Singapore in the final lap of the competition, held in Taiwan, Taipei. With this stirring Jazz Funk choreography, he aims to explore each of your strong feminine side. So c’mon, let your hair down, and show some support for Xavier’s first sharing session at Studio Wu!

Ronnie is a dancer from NRA, recently he would be see dancing with groups like “Joyce and the Boys” & “If You’re Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands” . He discovered dance in 2006 under the guidance of Ann Tan he was given opportunities to showcase his abilities as a dancer or choreographer through productions and performances. Recently back from Japan Dance Delight Vol. 17, He is madly inspired by the drive and passion of japanese dancers and he hopes to relate that across to singaporean dancers! He is very thankful for everything and everyone that has help and given advice throughout his dance journey. He hopes to give back what he has learn from the community back to the very community that educated him!

New Jack Swing, a fusion genre of contemporary R&B style vocals with strong hip hop beats. It was especially popular between the year 1988 to 1994 and some of the representative artistes include Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown and Guy. Winnie was first exposed to it when she was in Osaka for a month. It was love at first sight as it is a very upbeat and fun genre. This class is a dedication to Hiro-san and Makoto-san from Middle Filter. They are her patient teachers then and inspirations. So now, it’s her turn to spread her love to everyone here in Singapore.
